About Us

Związek Stowarzyszeń „Fandom Polski” (The Union of Associations “Polish Fandom”) is a nationwide organization that brings together Polish science fiction and fantasy fan clubs. It has been active since 2001.

The goals of the Association include:

  • coordinating the organization of subsequent editions of Poland’s National SFF Convention – Polcon,
  • overseeing the Janusz A. Zajdel Award (the Polish SFF Fandom Award),
  • providing patronage for KONgres – a meeting of fan event organizers and the publication released as part of it,
  • providing patronage for the “Dragons of Fandom” initiative – a distinction awarded to long-time active members of the fandom,
  • coordinating and promoting activities undertaken by individual fan clubs and communities,
  • representing the Polish science fiction and fantasy fandom, as well as Polish speculative fiction, both outside the fandom and abroad.

Mission – what do we believe in?

Fans can achieve more by working together.

Vision – what do we want to achieve?

We want the Polish fandom to grow and for its members to eagerly cooperate and share their knowledge, experiences, and passion.

Values – what will guide us in supporting our mission and vision?

  • creativity
  • initiative
  • community
  • inclusiveness

The governing bodies of the Association are the General Assembly (also known as the Fandom Council), composed of representatives of member associations, a Board with a two-year term, and an Audit Committee.

The Fandom Council meets several times a year—most often at Polcon, Nordcon, and KONgres—and makes key decisions, including electing the Board and admitting new members. The Board represents the Association externally, prepares Council meetings, and works closely with the organizers of Polcon, particularly regarding matters related to the Janusz A. Zajdel Award. The three-member Audit Committee supervises and reviews the substantive and financial activities of the Association.

In addition, during the Fandom Forum—an open meeting for all participants of the Polcon at which it is held —voting takes place on amendments to the Zajdel Award regulations. During the Forum, the next Polcon organizers are chosen, honorary guests are approved, Zajdel Award committees (the counting and nomination committees) are elected, and a report on the organization of the upcoming Polcon is presented. All participants, including those not affiliated with any club, have the right to vote during the Fandom Forum.
